Read the Wellesbourne and Walton News article covering the concerns of The Wellesbourne and Walton Parish Council, along with local residents, who strongly oppose the new redevelopment plans for Wellesbourne Mountford Airfield.

Gladman Developments Ltd has applied for planning permission to replace the existing two runways with a single runway and to refurbish the airfield terminal building. The proposal also includes plans for industrial buildings and warehousing.

Key concerns include:

  • The disregard for the Stratford-on-Avon District Core Strategy and the local Neighbourhood Plan.

  • Potential negative impacts on existing businesses, flying activities, and the airfield's wartime heritage.

  • Increased light pollution, noise, traffic, and environmental impact.

  • Inadequate drainage and flood protection plans.

The Parish Council has lodged an initial objection and is seeking specialist advice to respond more effectively.  The planning process is expected to be lengthy, with many official bodies and individual comments to be considered.
